How do I know which schools are the right fit for me?

We know it’s difficult to find the right school.  There are over 6,000 schools in the US alone.  You probably have a few names in mind already.  But how do you figure out your chances of getting accepted to those schools?  How do you find schools that match what you’re looking for, but you haven’t heard of yet? 

Where to start?

We’ve created some great tools to help you figure it out independently – instead of just listening to parents, teachers, friends, and siblings.  Your school counselors or advisors may also have some suggestions if you give them some idea of what you’re looking for.

Looking for more information on a specific school?  Great!  Just enter the school’s full name in the box to the left.  If you want to find multiple schools that match certain characteristics, use our advanced school search.  You can narrow by enrollment size, region, deadline, average GPA, and/or standardized testing score, to name a few.

Our Compare Schools Feature

We’ve created an easy-to-use school comparison tool so you don’t have to click around the Internet.  Here’s how to use it:

1.    Create a free Embark.com account and search for schools you’d like to compare.
2.    “Add to My Schools” through the buttons on the search results page OR the specific school’s page.
3.    View the schools you’ve selected in “My Schools”.  You can also see other features on Embark.com, like one click to request more information and/or apply online!
4.    Select which schools you’d like to see and click compare.
